William R. Hancin, 94, of Streator passed away Monday, March 15, 2021 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be family members. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Born November 4, 1926 in Streator he was the son of Stephen and Elizabeth (Wargo) Hancin.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Marie (Mark) Brandt of Phoenix, Arizona and Barbara Hancin-Bhatt of Champaign, Louis (Christina) Hancin Jr. of Streator, Bill (Linda) Hancin of Chillicothe, Joe (Marta) Hancin of Chicago, Steve (Karen) Kulan of Springfield, Missouri, Mary (Jim) Mitchell of Hobe Sound, Florida, John Hancin of Farmington, Minnesota, Chris (David) Melchior of Perryville, Missouri, Jean (Brad) Martin of Streator, Julie Hancin of Highland, Indiana; great nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary, Elizabeth and Helen Hancin, Emily Kulan; brothers, Louis, Stephen and George Hancin; nieces, Carrie Jean Hancin and Betty Farster; and nephews Steve Hancin and Brother Mike Kulan.
Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Germany.
He worked through the years for Owens Illinois Glass Company in the Mold Shop retiring after over 50 years of service.
Uncle Bill to everyone he farmed in rural Streator for many years.
