Born and raised in Streator, she attended Grant Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1946.
She worked through the years for Anthony Company and the LaSalle County Clerk’s Office. She later owned and operated the Jack and Jill Shop (children’s clothing store) on Main Street in Streator for 11 years until 1985. She later worked with her husband Dale as a secretary for Streator Unlimited until her retirement.
Upon her retirement, she and Dale wintered in Punta Gorda, Florida for many years. They made many close friends and cherished their time in Florida.
She was active in the community serving as the President for the Retail Counsel and St. Mary’s Auxiliary for several years. She was also very active through the years at Engle Lane. She worked alongside her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in productions at the theater for many years. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church.
Dee was known to many children in youth baseball and soccer as the “cupcake lady” as she would always have cupcakes (or sometimes cookies) after every one of her great-grandkids sporting events from t-ball through high school.
An avid life-long Chicago Cubs fan, she very rarely missed their games on TV. She was finally able to realize her dream of a Cubs World Series Championship in 2016.
Dee was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to her family. Her support and unquestioning love will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.
