Mary Ann Fox 87 passed peacefully on September 3, 2018.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Monday (September 10, 2018) at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Brian Brownsey will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Monday (September 10, 2018) at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mary Ann Fox was born in Streator, IL to the late Walter and Mary Morse. She married Edward B. Fox on July 5, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1995.
She grew up on Main Street. She attended St. Stephen’s School. She had many friends, and was full of mischief. Her dog spotty used to follow her to school and pick her up at the end of the day. She was the first in her family to go to college and graduate with Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. She also attended Illinois State University for her undergraduate studies. She had a great love and passion for music, playing in the High School Band, the drum, and lively on the piano with her father Walter.
Mary Ann had a great passion for Opera, but she loved Pink Floyd to Pavarotti and everything in between.
She loved animals. She had cats and dogs her whole life. She loved teaching. She taught at Lanphier High School in Springfield, and started the debate team. She also taught at Elgin High School. She ws well-loved and known as Ma Fox to her students. She taught for 38 years and loved her students. She was independent, smart, compassionate and funny. She was a character. She was a loving mother and wife.
She is survived by her son, Scott E. Fox of North Aurora; a daughter, Ann J. Fox of Santa Barbara, California; and granddaughter Hailey Fox of Oswego.
She passed with her children at her side, listening to music she loved. She will be forever missed but held in our hearts as a bright, indomitable spirit.
